Ocean Best Practices
[Placeholder — copy not written yet] Description of what ocean best practices are and why GOOS endorses them.
Find a best practice
Ocean best practices live in the Ocean Best Practices System (OBPS), a permanent global repository of ocean research, operations, data and information management methodologies. The repository is maintained as an open, community-driven resource for the ocean science and operations community.
GOOS Endorsement process
To qualify as GOOS-endorsed, an ocean best practice must meet six criteria:
- Completed a public community review process
- Originate from a network at pilot level or above in the relevant GOOS Essential Ocean Variable attributes
- Be approved by the leadership of the relevant network or expert team after review
- Be fit for purpose under the OBPS definition
- Be recognised through the relevant GOOS body
- Be available in the OBPS repository, or submitted once endorsed
